Sending Data

If the contents of any cell are not a command or keystrokes the data is copied to the target application "as is". This is done using the Windows copy and paste functionality and for most DataLoad uses this will be the most common cell type. Copy & Paste is the most efficient way to send data to a target application, however not all components in the target application will be able to accept pasted data. With Oracle Applications, for instance, keystrokes must be used with picklists and drop down lists and, in certain circumstances, for flexfields too. An important rule to follow is that if an application doesn't behave as you expected when you send data, try using keystrokes instead.
